Thorpe Acre 2000: Cycling and NCR6

Cycle tyre patterns in the Mosaic

The Millennium CycleWay passes through Thorpe Acre and follows part of the Trail. The whole network was opened on 21st July 2000 and is the creation of Sustrans, a national civil engineering charity specialising in cycleways which was awarded a £42 million grant to complete the task in partnership with local authorities and other sponsors.

Our part of the network, route 6 or NCR6, is the Inverness-Dover backbone! There will be signs from Rupert Brook Road through the Garendon Estate to Shepshed, via Kenilworth Avenue, Coe Avenue and Garendon Lane (K68/L17).
